Clonad-Trumera 3-7 Barrow Gaels 1-4

Laois U-13 ‘B’ Hurling Championship Final 

Clonad-Trumera were crowned The Midlands Park Hotel U-13 ‘B’ hurling champions with a deserving victory over Barrow Gaels in the Centre of Excellence this morning.

John Callaghan grabbed the headlines with a stunning performance scoring 2-5 and was the difference maker in the final.

In a low scoring first half, the occasion of a county final, the first for many players got to them and it led to a low scoring half.


Clonad-Trumera did take the lead in the seventh minute through a free from John Callaghan. They then had the ball in the net but it was adjudged that Adam Conroy was in the square before finishing the ball to the net.

The next score came in the 14th minute through Callaghan to double his side’s lead. Barrow Gaels would respond with the first goal of the game as Max Rosney found the back of the net.


The game started to open up with seven minutes left in the half. Sean McEvoy would extend Barrow Gaels lead with a fine point.

Clonad-Trumera then struck for a goal of their own after Callaghan broke through the defence and made no mistake in finding the net.


Both teams would then traded points before half time with McEvoy hitting Barrow Gaels point with the outstanding Callaghan grabbing another point as Clonad-Trumera led 1-3 to 1-2 at halftime.

Callaghan started the second half like where he ended the first half with another point but Will Murray responded with a point for Barrow Gaels.

Clonad-Trumera then took over the game and headed for home. They started to dominate all over the field and hit a crucial purple patch that Barrow Gaels couldn’t handle.

Callaghan added his second goal and a point straight after. Kayden Delaney and Nikodem Andrzejkowicz also added points to leave their team in command.

Ned Fox added the final nail in the coffin with Clonad-Trumera’s third goal and it was game up for Barrow Gaels.

They did search for goals of their own but Ben Delaney pulled off a number of great saves.

Robbie Molloy added the last point of the game for Barrow Gaels as Clonad-Trumera were crowned champions.
